This is because of the muscles in our hip directly affect what we feel in our feet. So, one of the most important aspects of foot pain rehab and recovery is including exercises that treat the whole body so that the foot is best support it. This is often why foot specific Insoles and Exercises don’t always fix the problem, because we have to look at the entire system.
Foot pain is less about stretching, more about strengthening
Yes, I know it feels like if you could just get the right stretch to stretch that foot out things would feel better. And, what I know from helping hundreds of clients with foot pain is that it’s less often about finding the right stretch in more often about strengthening the support muscles around the feet so that your feet will feel better. By strengthening the balance muscles in the foot and ankle, your foot will have less pressure on it!
Research shows that stretching after a walk or run - instead of before - leads to less injury.
